In 1978, Carmen Calill saw reproductions of my paintings in early editions of Spare Rib and wrote to me to ask if she could buy some with a view to using them on Virago book covers, as appropriate titles arose. A year or so later, these two books appeared, and she bought several of my dolphin paintings too, which said she wanted for her kitchen. Just a year before she died, she told me they were still there and the one called, Hello Frankie, (below) still greeted her every morning.
