Workshops
Running workshops is something I enjoy as much as creating my own work - inherited the passion from my mum, I think. She was headmistress of a tiny primary school in rural Wiltshire before the days of the National Curriculum and could do whatever she felt inspired to do and she was inspired to do amazing things. As a teenager, I used to help out sometimes and have loved teaching ever since.
Much of my work has been with women's groups, but I've also run workshops in Barlinnie Prison, alcohol rehab centres, with blind and partially sighted participants, and in many different types of residential care centres. Included are photos taken of a small school, called Maltiti, in Tamale, Northern Ghana, where I trained girls in textiles and tailoring to enable them to sell clothes in local markets, rather than be sent to work the streets in Accra.
The photographs remind me of the joyful surprises that come with creativity workshops. They are presented randomly and permission was given to use when taken.
